Meh, I have them both 5'd. Think most of us can agree they had a great run up to Clayman.

I don't really like it tbh, it's just not AS shitty as the other releases but that doesn't make it good ::shrugs::

Clayman was the last one worth listening to for me. Even that one doesn't get a whole lot plays that often, but sometimes I'll throw it on for nostalgia value. It has some great moments, but fell short of Colony.

The Jester (master)Race for life. But yeah, I managed to exhaust Whoracle to death. I think learning the entire album on guitar didn't help.

just listen to their last three albums real quick and i'm sure you'll be begging to listen to Whoracle

Does no-one else JUST like TJR & Whoracle (to a lesser extent but it’s decent). TJR is so much more interesting from a song-writing perspective & it feels heavier. If you played me this without knowing which In Flames I was listening to I’d have assumed this was the start of their ‘sell-out’ phase. I can’t imagine what the later stuff is like.

"Does no-one else JUST like TJR & Whoracle"
Colony came out right at the same time I discovered melodic death metal. The impact it had on my life was monumental. If I take my rose colored glasses off it's probably only a 4, maybe less, but that 4.5 rating has a ton to do with nostalgia. My two favorite albums are probably TJR and Subterranean with Whoracle right behind them. Colony is not their best album, but boy was it an important release.

what's really sad is the fact that In Flames pretends fans of their melodeath stuff don't even exist

well they play like 1, maybe 2 of their old songs each tour so thats pretty considerate of them at least!

Clayman is real good but I actually didn't listen to that one until I was older for some reason so I don't have the same connection with it as those three. Like this one I listened to around the time it came out.
Plus it helps that the three I mentioned are better albums.

At least other other sold out bands play their old material live more or less these guys just straight up pretend the pre-Colony stuff doesn't even exist and they've always been this way.
I respect that tbh. Even if we don't like it,the band moved on a long time ago. It would be stupid to play the old stuff when most of the band members are gone. That said, their latest playlists are really bad

I don't think it would be stupid, there are plenty of bands that play their classic material (especially when it's clear that the fans want to hear it). I'm blanking on bands right now but there are definitely some that don't have many original members that play classic stuff. If I'm going to pay to see them live, I don't only want to hear their non melodic death metal bullshit.
