This comes from wiki, but it is valid. I even remember a Collins interview where he clearly addressed the issue. Make no mistake, the album sounds great, has plenty of depth and separation where all the elements breathe quite nicely. It's just a bit too low and on many sound systems which were turned all the way up, it still wasn't loud enough. My argument has zero to do with compression.

it's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact....and again, as you mentioned, you're probably listening to the remaster which was never remixed....your sacrificing quality for volume in that instance
