The Long Road North didn't feel like a particularly significant evolution, but still. Generally they are all rather distinct. The S/T does sort of feel like an inferior The Beyond for the most part tho.

Lol what is your actual issue with Mariner? Is it just Julie Christmas?

Pika: ‘Mariner sucks’

Salvation > SATH > Dawn > The Beyond > this > Vertikal > then probably Mariner
🤔 nah, but it’s a lot better than Pika thinks it is. I do think the instrumentals take a backseat to Julie’s vox which limits its scope somewhat, but it’s just a different approach / separate entity in many ways and maybe shouldn’t be judged by the same criteria
Idk, I don’t even usually rank it with the others now

Got my Vinyl today. Sounds as good as the first day I heard this record. Absolute gem.

I disagree. Despite being written in the same sessions ADTF came from, I can see why they made them into separate releases.
To me, ADTF feels like walking through a forest sorrounded by creatures of the night. TLRN feels like hiking an arctic mountain, northern lights and lightning flashing the sky. I guess TLRN sounds more "colorful" and relies more on ambience. Its probably their most cinematic other than Vertikal, though that features a more industrial approach.
Edit: If anything, Mariner is the one I feel lacks a distinct personality. It doen't capture "the vastness of space" or whatever it was intended to sound like.

Eh beyond and debut are clearly and far behind everything that came after them imo.
|
| |
Beyond is mandatory top 3 and Long Road at #1 and/or ahead of the Raging River is just silly

and see raging river didn't do that much for me, but I was still riding high on ADTF so I should give it another try admittedly
