the fluctuations in the number of ratings on here for Groupers albs are pretty hilarious and like, the absolute perfect representation of sputniks attention span for their 'flavour of the week' infatuations

while I partly agree, there's also an element of positive reinforcement for highly rated albums. If you look, with the exception of Man Who Died in his Boat, all her albums with few ratings stand at sub 3.9 averages. People are incentivised to check stuff that is rated highly which is quite fair I think. Certainly that's how I used the website for a good while when I started to get into music in the first place
