this album has some of my fav riffs ever along with the likes of Darkthrone's F.O.A.D. and A Blaze In The Northern Sky

while i dont think its necessarily the best second wave song freezing moon is probably the most iconic along with transylvanian hunger

Yeah I agree with you, along with I Am the Black Wizards, Det Som En Gang Var, and Mother North.

Freezing Moon is definitely one of the best. And by far the most covered. Cursed in Eternity is about as good, though.

det som en gang var is my pick for the quintessential black metal song but i dont necessarily think its quite as iconic as either of the ones i said before

Freezing Moon is my favorite here then probably the title track, but the rest are hard to rank. This is a top 5 black metal album.

the riffs are so simple but so awesome

freezing moon literally opens with just strumming all open strings but fuck does it rule

agreed

If I have to pick a fav BM album it'd probably be A Blaze In The Northern Sky or Goat Horns tho

5 classic

Agalloch Pale Folklore
Burzum Hvis lyset tar oss
Darkthrone A Blaze in the Northern Sky
Darkthrone Under a Funeral Moon
Emperor In the Nightside Eclipse
Ulver Bergtatt

one of these I presume? Kinda hard pinning Agalloch to a specific genre so I was like ehhh fuck it

well aside from pale folklore most of those are 5 because of a combination of influence and quality, but none of those are really my favorite albums ever

and agalloch is questionable for black metal

'and agalloch is questionable for black metal'

Into The Painted Grey bro

I'd probably go with Goat Horns for fav BM btw

Yeah, Lunar Poetry is better. But Goat Horns rules hard, obviously.

Goat Horns > The Voice of Steel > Lunar Poetry imo

but I'm not a black metal authority like you guys so just ignore me ^^
