Chan, sarcasm is awesome. Just not when every post by a metalhead causes you to respond sarcastically. It gets old.

if akerfeldts voice gives you nightmares, i'm afraid to ask what else scares you

Come to think of it there's a lot of movies that scare me...No but in all seriousness I just can't listen to this stuff. It just ruins the music to me.

yeah, if you like Opeth but can't stand the harsh vocals, Damnation would be great for you to listen too. IMO though, the best acoustic and clean work Opeth have done are on the other albums. Problem for you though, is that it's mixed with the heavier stuff.

No I didn't take them as demeaning, I just feel like I should like this band but every time I listen to em, I can't tolerate it. Oh well. I figured out that dude is the "Cave of Wonders". What a classic flick. This Message Edited On 02.24.08

Merkaba, I actually had the same problem initially with Opeth but it was the complete opposite. I loved the heavy parts but couldn't stand the soft/acoustic parts cause I was way to metal for them back then. Now it is all teh sex.

It's impossible to be too metal for something; it's not metal enough.

Nah, I got it.

What most people don't realize is that I just copy Eliminator's old posts word for word.

Eliminator loves Cocaine. The user, not the substance...

I am sort of listening to all Opeth albums in intervals, and it is probably going to take a few weeks for me to issue ratings to them all because it takes so many listens to soak in and really realize what rating goes to which album.

I was listening to Bleak this morning and about 1:40 into it I could've sworn I heard the sound of Mario going down a pipe in the faint background.

Yeah, that was Steven Wilson and Mikael playing Super Mario Bros. during recording. He probably used that sound as one of his 'layers'
