Volta's placement made me wretch. Biophilla is mad underrated.

You need to like Portishead more (I would say Bjork less, but also no).

K, thanks.

For what it's worth, Medulla & upward are all 3.5+. Even Bio and Utopia are 3, which is still a good/positive score.
If we're talking about mad underrated, that'd be Volta. Never understood the hate.

It's a fun albeit inconsistent album, no doubt. My eyes are just hurting seeing it above Post and Biophilia - and also Portishead s/t, but this is a silly comparison, obviously.

The ultra mega falling in love with Björk has not really progressed from the early phases of newfound addiction the way I expected it to. That real OHMYGOSH-moment hasn't happened (...yet).

That said I prefer each Portishead album to all of Björk's. But no-one should be surprised by that at this point haha!

I love Bjork, but if I had to make the choice between her entire discog and Portishead's, then I'd pick the latter every time despite the huge discrepancy in quantity. In fact if I was only allowed Dummy or Bjork's entire catalogue, the decision would probably still be the same.

I also really love Bjork. Seen her live 3 times, always amazing.

Also have you seen her talk about a TV? ❤❤❤

she's obnoxious. i do like some bork though - her homophobic era was a lot more tasteful than her art-core era - but certainly not all of it. she's very gimmicky and although she is obviously a talented singer at the one unique thing she does, she has approximately zero versatility and is unable to deliver anything other than that one unique thing she does, even if it makes absolutely no sense with the music.

i've said it before but her vocal performances often come across like she recorded them before she ever actually heard the song she was supposed to be singing on.

Thanks for a thoughtful and eloquent answer.

(I agree)

(I have seen her live 1 time though, it's pretty weird but fun)

"she has approximately zero versatility and is unable to deliver anything other than that one unique thing she does"
vaguely agreed with this for everything post-Vesp, not sure it works nearly as well for anything before (Cocoon/an Echo a stain/5 yrs/pluto/headphones/maybe other songs) and you could probs argue that Medulla gets a free pass because she went to hell and back to make the rest of the album creative (but those arguments would be lame because that alb kinda sucks) ok this is a warm take but not a hot one mm
