That just makes it all the more sad that he released so much shit. I mean don't get me wrong, there's been some really interesting stuff from this dude after illmatic, I'm actually a pretty big fan of Stillmatic, but I've always felt like Nas was so damn talented that most of his hip-hop career has just been a god damn waste. It's like it would've been so damn easy for him to release another classic or near-classic if he'd just gotten the right producers, the right guest spots (or just not had any), and actually put the effort in- But he just chose not to.

i saw nas perform at coachella and he was fuckin sick versing some of his best stuff from his more middling albums, but he refuses to play the game ditching out on a record signing deal he told the festival he would do a bit earlier. still, 'tribes at war', 'as we enter', 'patience' are some of the best stuff he's done in the post-illmatic era
