Yeah, I've heard a grand total of one (1) Pyrrhon album and at least judging from that, Moore's vocals are one of the band's aces. I love his hardcore-ish shouts and how well they complement his lower growls.
Glad to see Imperial Triumphant getting their flowers - Alphaville may well be my metal album of the decade so far.
As for Gorguts - out of all my 4.5s, Obscura is probably next in line for the 5 bump. I got into that album in high school, and I've been realizing lately the sheer amount of influence it's had on my taste in the long run. The first two albums are a great time as well, still need to check their post-Obscura material.

"Alphaville may well be my metal album of the decade so far." (2)... well either that or Aveilut
"out of all my 4.5s, Obscura is probably next in line for the 5 bump" - do it!
almost an unfathomable amount of based here

When we say "of the decade" are we talking about from 2020 until now, or the last ten years? The answer has fairly substantial implications on my answer.

Isn't the vocalist for this band a pedophile?

Oh no venin, this is your riskiest slur bait post yet!

I just remembered years ago after I listened to an MGLA album hearing that the vocalist was friends with Mikko Aspa and that Aspa was a white supremacist/racist pedophile and then MGLA wrote Age of Excuse which my friends at the time saw as an "anti woke" response which put me off it completely. And with Aspa being part of DsO apparently... yeah

Aspa is a complete fuckhead and I don't fault anyone for being turned off by his alleged involvement. I'm personally not 100% convinced he's in the band, but assuming he is, it's... uh... definitely a strong case where separating art from artist comes in handy. I just keep in mind that loving music made by bad people doesn't make me or anyone else a bad person. I won't give them my money, but I'll still stream the hell out of their stuff and, when possible, hunt down used CD or vinyl copies (since the damage has already been done by the original buyer and I need this band in my collection - already got a Si Monumentum CD, hoping to get this baby on vinyl next time I can afford it).
@tectactoe By "decade" I mean 2020 to present - tbh even by the other definition my answer would still be Alphaville

aspa has questionable *noise projects, can’t buy any map narrative, just haters trying to cancel
|

@dylan: yeah, i'm still struggling with the guilt of knowing I monetarily supported someone who ended up getting accused, two years before it all came out. but i'm trying to tell myself that, since I sold that CD (satori by i the mighty), all is forgiven. i've refused to spin it even once since everything went down.
@gia: not trying to cancel, just asking a genuine question here: why are you using the sanitized term that pedophiles use to make their sick fetish seem more acceptable? "MAP"? jesus.

that’s a legitimate term, some ppl struggle and recover
|
| |
maybe some do but "map" is a sanitized term that pedophiles spread all over social media (esp. twitter/x pre-elon) to legitimize and downplay their fucked up behavior, and that whole stunt is very likely part of why people conflate LGBT with pedophilia - they tried aligning with us, when they do not belong. most of them had zero interest in getting better, they were glorifying that shit

it’s not, that’s rhetoric to avoid twitter militarism, it’s just a term. Lots of lifes ruined due to limewire jailbait, it’s not so deep bro

@venin That's just it though - you bought that CD before the allegations had surfaced. You couldn't have known. It's not like you made a conscious decision to financially support someone who you knew was a monster. You should forgive yourself - though I understand that can be easier said than done. If selling the CD was something you needed to do to help yourself heal, then it's good that you did so.
