I see a lot of similarities in some of the riffs. The intro for Ghost of the Midwinter Fires sounds a lot like the delayed guitar section on She Painted Fire.

well the production, the drum sound especially, is more like pale folklore than either of the other albums, and the production is a step down from mantle/ashes but i think it makes kind of a cool atmosphere. and yeah like angel said, some of the riffs and sections could be from PF-era. but the album as a whole didn't sound like a "new" agalloch record for some reason, it was somewhat of a departure imo

Agreed that it doesn't sound like a new Agalloch record. Most everything on there is recycled ideas. Production is a tad annoying at times.

I don't really agree that it doesn't sound like a "new" Agalloch album. The song structures are proggier than anything they've ever done before. And even though there are elements from all three of their albums, the combination works to create an entirely new sound.

The production is fairly annoying. I'm still underwhelmed with Marrow after three listens, but three listens isn't SHIT for an Agalloch album.

I was gonna start listening to the discography tonight, but I'm listening to Miserere Luminis and then I gotta go to sleep. Got gay ass work early in the morning.

Hell yeah man good stuff. Out of them, Sombres Forets, and Gris I would have to say I'm liking Gris the most. All of them are great though.
