he doesn't do much surprising anymore. I loved that his performances through Blood Mountain were unpredictable and not necessarily tightly woven with the other instruments, so it was a whole new rhythmic layer that made the times when he'd fall into groove that much more powerful.

that's one thing they actually speak on Sultan's doc on youtube. Something about Brann be more simple for songwriting's sake. They said that sometimes Brann was so good that used to go a little too far at times. Still pretty nice "out of the box" features when recording outside percursions, like throwing boxes to the floor on Andromeda I think. That said, I prefer when Brann goes absolutely crazy lol
