I'm very very new to Porcupine Tree, and I admit I was turned on to them thru Opeth. The first album I checked out was Blank Planet. Fucking brilliant. The title track is haunting and heavy, and I love the drop off the cliff dynamically loud/soft throughout the album.
Gavin Harrison is amazing on this album. Even as a DT and TOOL fan, this might be as impressive a drum performance I've ever heard in recent years. The rips and rolls between about 9 and 11 minutes on anesthetize would make neil peart blush. Fucking awesome drumming! WOW

As great as Sleep Together is, it definitely benefits from the context of the other songs. Band needs to release some new material; hate to see another band breaking the 2 year cycle ;(

well shit it seems steven spent all his material on his new solo album might not be getting another PT by year late 2012/early 2013

Their best album in my opinion. Marvellously constructed tracks with real meaning behind them, and every moment here is to be relished without any disturbances whatsoever. Fabulousm/

^ I agree. As much as I love their other albums, I'll always have a soft spot for this one.

Wilson said in a recent interview that they will start recording their new album early next year and by this time next year we should hear some new music from Porcupine Tree

I can't wait. I hope it sounds more like his newest solo album and less like The Incident.
