They had a pretty good run from SCIENCE to Light Grenades. At the very least they were one of the best mainstream bands on the planet from SCIENCE to Morning View.

Except that it wasn't. It's in the top 5 though.

there's not a single thing Crow doesn't excel at compared to the other albums. like, the 3 before it are good and all, Light Grenades is passable with the occasional great track, but Crow is timeless & has every member (most of all Einziger) firing from all fucking cylinders. it took me a while to realize this but now it's just the blinding truth. if you have a personal favorite other than Crow that's fine and all but to me it is so blatantly their best

That's not a totally unfounded opinion, but to me it has neither the eclectic energy of SCIENCE, nor the focused tunefulness of Make Yourself or Morning View. It's a very good album, but it never gets to the same level as those albums.
