Was at their listening party on tuesday. It was decent, basically on Gomorrahs level. Gonna give it another listen when it releases

Gomorrah is one of my fav dm albums of the 2020s so that is good to hear.

The singles of new one sounded quite intriguing. It struck me as being more aggressive and unhinged than Gomorrah (which I thought of being a bit by the numbers...)

New one is def a step-up from Gomorrah, although that one did end up growing on me a little bit. Riffs for days tbh

whole album is very consistent with song quality, but if i had to choose my three best it would be in no real order

Crown of Thorns (cmon, its a classic at this point)

Slit Your Guts

Phobophile (piano used to break up brutal death metal well should be used more)

also staying up late to catch the new album a bit early. currently midnight for me. matt mcgachy does a decent job but i really dislike his screams. this is my second cryptopsy album after this one. production does kinda feel weak at times, with the riffs and bass being a bit buried.

the way the drum machine is just buried enough is cool. oh wait, its not a drum machine. sorry flo mounier, must be the production or something. riffs are cool but really does not have enough punch for this type of music. overall decent so far, i'm halfway done. noticing how the drumming is mindless blastbeats when its not the time feels very strange, and not in a good way. there's a bit of that in the start of The Art of Emptiness, at least its when i first noticed it.

They should just have made a new band after this album. A new Cryptopsy is bound to be somewhat disappointing.

Agreed on Whisper ruling. Don’t know about the newer ones. Listened to one of the eps and remember enjoying it but don’t recall much about it
