I just thought it’d be amusing to break the 5 streak with an Opeth-themed username. This is my 8th fave Opeth, so yeah 4/5 seems about right. Drifts a bit in the middle. Bookends are up there with their best work.

Understand this completely. For the longest time I felt Harvest and Drapery Falls meandered and didnt reach the quality of the other songs.

But thats changed.

Wow Demon I think it's my 8th fave too! About fifteen years ago it would have been my fave but other albums kept surpassing it and now here is where we stand.

Observer Harvest is what kept this from being a 5.0 for me.

That and Wilson's singing.

Bleak yes. Such a pity because that is such an amazing track otherwise. Just can't stand his voice for some reason.

I'm afraid that isn't going to happen any time soon for me.

But there's always the t/t ❤️

>Maybe the first growl vocals I ever appreciated. Opened all the doors.

That's true. My sister had some friend transfer songs to her iPod and there where some Opeth songs, and that's when the magic happened for me. Until then I was used to gothic and symphonic metal growls that were nowhere near Mike's guttural vocals. Like being fed a good steak after years of consuming beef jerky.

Wilson does a great job on production here, yeah.

Would you consider Opeth to be one of your favourite bands, Dom?
