When it was the best album ever made? Haha yeah no dice for me. I loooove this but it’s not music I can have any emotional attachment to beyond pure adrenaline and head banging. And occasionally really awesome acoustic proggy sections.

This isn’t my favourite Opeth, but it’s arguably the most structurally perfect.

putting it that way Still Life is very neatly structured. Stylistically BWP mimics that structure a bit as well, now that I look at it.

> The name of this album, Still Life, shows a side of Opeth that most metal bands do not have. Most other bands may have titled this album "Still Death."

I skip Melinda every time now. It's the only song that got super boring and cheesy over years of replays, the rest still holds up

God this album fucking slays

it's great and perfectly fits the album but i only listen to it if i jam this in full. i come back to the moor and serenity painted death as singles all the time.

Skip Benighted, listen to Camel instead. Profit.
and Face of Melinda is 2nd weakest for sure

Benighted is one of the main reasons BWP will always be the better record *yawn*

Benighted is one of the main reasons Still Life will always be the better record, because Harvest is vastly inferior (and easily the worst song on BWP)

I like Harvest. Benighted is a better song though.

vocal harmonies on Harvest are a cut above anything on Benighted and it sustains the atmosphere of the opening tracks far better. don't really see a scenario where having a noodle-happy early lacuna doesn't hurt this record more than anything a couple of surplus minutes of eerie acoustics could do to BWP
