“Jeet calling TOCS half dogshit is on brand but I won't stand for it.” [2]

Also with how much you like SYSC Jeet that surprises me cause their sound is mostly TOCS era UO.

I mean we’re all mostly splitting hairs cause all of those albums rule. I can’t even offer firm criticisms of why. I just gravitate toward those 3 based on the sound I want from this band.

I'm sure Jeet can confirm it but I think they aren't as into the pop side of the earlier post-hardcore band releases. We've gone back and forth on Finch's What It Is to Burn and I think it's similar to TOCS in that they're basically pop albums wrapped in a post-hardcore coating but Jeet isn't into the less mature stuff.

Obviously all preference but I'm a sucker for some infectious hooks and harmonies, which TOCS is filled to the brim with.

"Also with how much you like SYSC Jeet that surprises me cause their sound is mostly TOCS era UO."

Thats like a fraction of their sound, they add a bunch of spazzy ass riffage too while still having other post-hardcore influences. Thats what draws me in.

"I'm sure Jeet can confirm it but I think they aren't as into the pop side of the earlier post-hardcore band releases."

Yea. You can still have infectious hooks without being poppy. Say Hello To Sunshine does this to perfection. Some of the catchiest hooks in the genre surrounded by really cool and weird instrumentation.

"TOCS will always be iconic. Jeet is just buggin."

Its iconic but also mid.

These clowns kicked James out of the band a couple weeks ago. He was always my favorite.

I read the article I saw incorrectly, it was March 2023 not March 2024. I had not heard about this until now and I'm mad.

I liked TOCS when I heard it in 2005 and was getting into heavier music but when this dropped I barely had a reason to go back. TOCS doesn’t do a single thing better than this and it’s not close
