Randomly gave this another chance today and it's much better than I remembered.

all radiohead records released after kid a are brickwalled to the point of nauseating headache

if i could listen to any of them this is probably my favorite

so I just randomly combed a few random chunks of In Rainbows and while I now like the first thirty seconds of House of Cards significantly less, I'm not getting a brickwall feel from the album as a whole. What I did get was vocal clipping and skipping in Jigsaw Falling Into Place (3:13 and 2:37 respectively), but the rest of the mix is cosy so this feels like a specific decision re. Thom's voice. Checked up some DR stats and while some CD rips/downloads of IR and AMSP are a little hokey, there's nothing super concerning about their post-Kid A output in general

all i know is that they're all sufficiently loud and clippy to cause me physical discomfort so i can't listen to these records much

although some russians have probably meme declipped it if that counts

e; perhaps they haven't. darn

Even Amnesiac? :O

I would expect that you have nearly identical production since it came from the same sessions as Kid A

disclaimer; i know this website can be antagonistic but i am not here to stir anything up and i wish i could enjoy more of this band's catalogue

Nah that's fine, it's a legitimate concern

One I don't seem to mind at all, but if you do I get it

Lotus Flower, Codex, Give Up the Ghost is the greatest 3 song stretch on any Radiohead album.

I’m glad this album gets love nowadays. I remember when it came out people were disappointed. Some people were so disappointed they theorized there was another album about to drop right after.

Hard to live up to the glory of In Rainbows, but this grew on me a lot over the years. Codex is still one of my favorite songs.

Yeah I've loved it from the moment of release too. But I do vividly remember the general disappointment and the "If you think this is over then you're wrong''-hype.
