it's interesting how people who inexplicably think AMSP is a good radiohead album despite it's myriad of glaring flaws almost mandatorily have gripes with this album. i think the reason they prefer the basement version is because it's the halfway neutered compromise between this natural evolution in Radioheads career and the paycheck grabbing five step backwards vanilla latte monotony of AMSP.

What artist makes music that you'd say is the most similar to "Feral" that isn't Radiohead themselves?
that would be impossible to nail, but parts of The Gamble by Nonkeen remind me of some this alb instrumentally

Oh and the album Coils by Evan Geesman, thats actually a better bet. Even the vocals sound a little like yorke.

FWIW I love both albums just about equally, and prefer studio TKOL to from the basement

I also wouldn't call the basement version halfway neutered? I think people prefer it because they like the sweat and grit of a band playing in real time to the colder, sharper electronic sound of the studio version. Again, I'm not one of those people, but I understand where they're coming from
