There is one minute in that entire goddamn new song that is semi-worth listening to, and that's when things actually get a little interesting when the heavy part comes in. Even then, it sounds kinda like they heard the new Deafheaven and thought they should add in mumbled auto-tuned bullshit over the top. The rest is completely forgettable wank.
It's actually infuriating to me how bad these guys are at writing songs.

Obviously in the minority but I don't think this band is THAT bad. To me, they're more inconsistent than anything. Admittedly think the first two singles for the new album are decent 6/10s - though I have to agree that the lyrics have taken a nosedive since TPWBYT

the lyrics are just empty platitudes and idioms that don't say anything of substance. taking out vessel's god awful warbling and mega-processed delivery, the lyrics are so devoid of any depth or nuance its actually incredible.
once again they do the "slow bit - heavy bit - slow bit - heavy bit" without any organic or sensible mixture, it is simply box-checking at this point.
