Mmm this band has a few great songs but You Won't Know and Noro are in a league of their own. This is a smooth album but nothing quite comes close

Yeah anyone that doesn’t think You wont Know isn’t a masterpiece is just wrong.
Like I thought it was pretty unanimously one of their best tracks

"In the Water" reminds me so much of Temple of the Dog, I love it

It’s transcendent. In the Water is...life.

Seems like enough time has passed that re-ranking this is appropriate/necessary:
1. Lit Me Up - 5/5 - Ideal atmosphere for this band and truly haunting lyrics that foreshadow the future of its singer. I get shivers every time.
2. In The Water - 5/5 - Beautiful guitar work and chorus, shimmers with the beauty of old school Modest Mouse era, say if Moon & Antarctica aspired for full blown indie-pop
3. 137 - 4.8/5 - Amazing lyrics and best solo of the album, song depresses me every time (let's all go and meet our maker / they don't care whose side you're on)
4. Same Logic/Teeth - 4.8/5 - Amazing changes in tempo, love the dichotomy of screaming over pristine acoustic guitars
5. Batter Up - 4.7/5 - Emotional as all hell, also quite mysterious
6. Can't Get It Out - 4.5/5 - Sounds like a Deja Entendu single at night
7. 451 - 4.5/5 - Brand New sings Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" and that's every bit as awesome as it sounds
8. Waste - 4.4/5 - Best chorus on album
9. Out of Mana - 4.3/5 - Cool electric guitar work and a heart-wrenching outro
10. Desert - 4.2/5 - Pretty cool lyrical narrative and addictive call-back vocals in the chorus
11. Could Never Be Heaven - 4.0/5 - Pristinely beautiful but not all that memorable or complex
12. No Control - 3.8/5 - Chorus is way too basic and drones on, but it's kinda catchy nonetheless and that rock outro is badass

"Brand New sings Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" and that's every bit as awesome as it sounds"
damn, never thought about it like that but I can't say you're wrong.
I agree with most of this, especially with No Control being the only song below a 4/5

Surprised you don’t have more 5’d sowing.
I think In The Water, 137, Lit Me Up, Waste, and Can’t Get it Out are pretty much perfect.

@buttboy - the beautiful people was literally the first song I thought of when I heard 451 but I think this is the first time I made the comparison; I think it's apt for sure.
@wildcard - I consider a 5/5 song to be basically, if not truly, perfect...also I wanted to have something of a distinction between my two favorite songs and the next level down. Can't Get It Out is probably underrated on my list, I love the hell out of it...it might be the song I jam the most off this album simply because of how fun it is....just couldn't justify it sitting above those top 5 is all...maaaybe it could challenge Batter Up but I'm not sure.
