I think most people find it to be a strange amalgamation of unrelated janky riff patterns and weird unsettling vocal melodies
Those are kinda the reasons I like it tho

Yeah I always felt like it was a clear cut highlight. It's such a badass track.

yo sowing acid hologram is 1 of 4 tracks i kept from this album. agree it is fucking awesome. deftones goes psychedelic yes pls
|
| |
You must really like those 4 tracks if it’s still a 3.5 overall
|
| |
i do! i think acid hologram, p/t, rubicon, and gore are among their very best songs

always been quite found of (l)mirl.

p/t might be one of their most boring songs, and rubicon I could never care about
|

Album Rating: 3.5
Agreed with P/T but Rubicon is stellar imo, top 3 here easy

CUZ WERE CROSSING THE RUBICON

after revisiting this album nothing is really 'bad' it just doesn't have many moments that make me feel anything negatively or positively
rubicon and hearts/wires are jams though
|
| |
hearts/wires is tedious as fuck and has an incredibly weak chorus. mirl, headdress, xenon, and pittura infamante just kind of exist. they aren't bad but they're not rly worth listening to. phantom bride is downright complete trash, and doomed user is pretty alright.

I can see that. really i'm just a sucker for the ambient intro and verses in h/w
i get the appeal of phantom bride, but the chorus and especially the solo just come off as pure soap opera style cheese to me
|
| |
agreed, cheesy as hell and the vox on that one annoy the hell out of me lol
|
| |
Phantom Bride is just terrible but I enjoy it a lot anyways tbh

H/w is a perfect track

why does nobody ever talk about acid hologram and how it's the best song on this album? i feel like I'm always the one bringing it up
Definitely an underrated song. One of the best here.
|
| |
LMIRL is my fave here actually

Yeah L(MIRL), h/w and phantom are my top 3.

“H/w is a perfect track”

That transition from Geometric Headdress is perfect. Reminds me of the Rosemary to Goon Squad transition.
Hopefully Ohms has a similar moment. I’m a sucker for that kind of thing

"why does nobody ever talk about acid hologram and how it's the best song on this album? i feel like I'm always the one bringing it up
maybe I just don't frequent deftones threads enough to notice"
It's the best song on Gore. "Geometric Headdress" is a close runner-up.
