I am excited but I have to admit my excitement has waned a little after Sorceress.
PC I was hyped beyond belief as I loved Heritage (I became a fan around 2011, so that probably helped). You could class that as blind hype I guess cos they were my new favourite band.
Mikael has become a little jaded I feel over the past 2-3 years. They seem to have taken their time with this new one though, always a good sign.
Mendez should get involved more in the writing, he's pretty much an OG member at this point and I think Mikael should allow his bandmates to have more input nowadays.

Haha, I will be forever hyped too. They're something special of course.

I'm hyped. They have another great record in them, I can feel it. I know expectation can lead to disappointment, so I'll just keep the hype to reasonable levels for now... if necessary I can spin Sorceress or PC once every few weeks to keep my expectation levels down.

They're all at the top of their game here imo.
During recent spins I felt Mendez's bass particularly shined, of course Axe too. I just can't get enough of that jazzy style, it is so damn good, and I think it's a pity they only use it on this. That's why I fived!

This is one of their most creative and jazzy as Trifo said, and an amazing rhythm section in particular. PC and Sorceress sound a lot more conventional and reminiscent of 70s prog than this imo

This has tons of uniqueness and personality, more so than the following albums.
'I mean I probably prefer this to Morningrise tbh.'
I can't believe you just said that, seriously wtf?

The bass and keyboard are on-point. If anything, the guitar is the weak point here. There are some neat licks, but it lacks a steady punch throughout.

Akerfeldt is an amazing guitarist, agreed.
Although, that may be Fredrik's solo.
