It’s a classic - a fact that’s rammed home when you see them live

Prob the most important song for ‘the fans’ tbh
Then again, ‘All the Wine’ is another with similar fan affection and I’m not too bothered either way with that one. So you don’t have to love the ‘fan favourite’ - but that’s what they are.

Going off the nightly massive sing-a-longs that take place in each and every National concert, Vanderlyle is probably the surprise winner out of this entire album.

Conversation 16 is a powerhouse

Not from here but Humiliation is top of my list of underrated National songs. It was actually the last song from TWFM to click with me but boy when it did!

Conversation 16 and Bloodbuzz have always been my faves here.
This is probably best National the more I think about it.

None of these guys' albums are immediate at all are they? Like I'm noticing that the songs dont really click until after they've played several times.

"This is probably best National the more I think about it."
i always tend to think that too when jamming this but then i jam their other albums and i'm like 'sheesh i'm not so sure anymore but luckily i don't have to decide'. gun to my head and i probably say boxer is the best
|
| |
this or Boxer for best National for me
slight edge to this probably because it's the album that got The National to "click" for me
