pig destroyer live were a fucking workout lol, good show though. Prowler/Terrifyer are as good as it gives for a genre peak (though I wouldn't put Phantom Limb anywhere near), love those records

Oh I love Phantom Limb maybe the most. I think they got a lot more adventurous with their songwriting beyond riffs on riffs on riffs
Which isn’t a diss because they’re some of the best riffs ever fucking made. Towering Flesh is just some of the wildest shit ever, put I can’t really point out too many individual songs from those records even after listening to them a hundred times. I think that Prowler and Terrifyer are incredible works taken as a whole but Phantom Limb is the one for me.
I know for sure that’s not popular but tbh I love all of their shit including Book Burner and Head Cage. Tho to me that’s def where they started to drop off a little. Octagonal Stairway is super underrated too imo
Let’s go and turn this into a Pig Destroyer thread plz

The remastered 38 Counts of Battery fucking rips too, I think way too many folks pass over that

I've heard one Pig Destroyer album, wasn't really my jive but I'm content w just putting them in the not my thing bag. I think most grind tends to wash over me like that tbh

You should absolutely give Phantom Limb a shot. I fucking love the whole thing but the 4 streak of Alexandria, Girl in the Slayer Jacket, Waist Deep in Ash, and The Machete Twins are where the album goes from great to incredible.
It’s also just straight up an easier listen for someone that isn’t as on to grind.

I'm not the biggest grind fan either, but something about The Inalienable Dreamless just hit all the right spots for me. It's the auditory equivalent of having a mental breakdown at the end of the world.

Ya discordance axis does go hard af I just don’t think they’ve got the discog to be called goats. Amazing band tho.

you don't need the discog
quality over quantity and IA and Jouhou are very much up there

there are some godly bands that only released one album, one hell of an album tho

"Human Remains" - as an answer to top grind AND very limited material - they have a 17 min album and some demos / EPs etc. but they rule!
"there was that grindcore band with a bird lol. that was a funny bit."
had to double-check this wasn't zak posting sexist nonsense when I saw "bird" but you meant an actual bird, lol... what?

Specifically Dirge
They are tha peak of grind

aye good band, altho as an introduction "Hiss" might work as it covers a lot of ground in an almost 'progressive-but-not-really-progressive' sort of way. It's hard to imagine many people into heavy music not getting something out of it

Fair enough
Hiss does bring a hodgepodge inflection of doom/bm/melodic bits in general to the table
Wheres Dirge and Voices are nonstop blast beating carpal tunnel causing grind

Wormrot's Dirge album cover is so gnarly and I love it
|
| |
Voices rips and I should jam it more, holds up much better than Hiss' gimmick juggle
