Keyboards in metal rule when they're used correctly
Awful when used incorrectly

Never actually heard a Dimmu album. Haven't really peaked my interest

Yeah with Dimmu they can be pretty obnoxious, I never truly got into that band
I do really like it on Ghost Reveries though, and this is coming from someone who is lukewarm on Watershed and can't fucking stand anything after that

I prefer Watershed over GR by a considerable margin
The two things I hate the most on GR are the riffs and first and foremost Michael's ''hooks''

Oof, definitely can't agree there

I love both at the same level. So, I'm not sure what I prefer. But maybe I can agree with Pika. "Watershed" is probably a better thought album than its predecessor.

I haven't slobbered over this album in a while so I'm going to now... The intro to The Moor is fucking broken. Top 5 Opeth sequence. Absolute chills

"The intro to The Moor is fucking broken. Top 5 Opeth sequence. Absolute chills"
even if I 'prefer their earlier stuff' these days, it's likely still numero uno. Its ability to conjure a hearty 'fuuuuuuuuuuuck' as soon as the riffs kick in is wholesome and seemingly fails to wane. Then the cleans enter and they do be bringing a big ol' grin to me mug with almost disturbing inevitability. Nostalgia perhaps as I remember the first time as some sort of life-altering event. Who cares I guess. Embrace it!
