DE is their best and the second best is a full letter grade behind it.

DE hits all the right notes for me. I have my ranked list on my profile with a breakdown.
Hoping Ohms can break the top 5.

don't have a favorite Deftones record, but KNY and Diamond Eyes are pretty much equal to me.
Pretty much for me too, but I give DE a very slight edge

Every song either has a big chorus with great hooks and/or melodies (evil, beauty school, risk) or those tm screams + speed and intensity (rocket skates, royal). Every other deftones album has filler - those songs with weak ass choruses/melodies that are also lacking in the intensity dept (like 70% of gore, most of the middle of snw, a good bit of wp (passenger has to be the most boring song they've ever done)). Songs like romantic dreams, hearts/wires, pittura, graphic nature, mein, xerces, combat, feitceira, street carp, teenager, passenger, etc.
Maybe CMND/CNTRL and butcher aren't that strong here but still

WP is DEFINITELY not overrated but I was around and already listening to Deftones when it came out. You have to understand the musical climate then, it was (mostly) shit nu metal and Deftones were kinda teetering on the edge of that label as they had only released Adrenaline and ATF at that point — then they released White Pony and it blew people away. It was NOT what people were expecting and unlike anything around at the time.
That record is the reason we’re still sitting here talking about Deftones today. It is a landmark record and a classic...of course you’re welcome not to love it, but it absolutely deserves all the accolades it gets — if anything, it’s UNDERrated since your average dimwit on the street has probably never even heard of it.

Dude, Xerces, Combat, Butcher, Hearts/Wires (prob best track on Gore) and Passenger are some of their best songs.

Butcher rules.
I rejammed DE today and might have to bump it to a 4.5 cos I enjoyed it all the way through.
Seems I've been sleeping on This Place is Death too, what a song.

Maynard blows so it's no surprise that I think passenger is a chore to sit through. No way is h/w better than rubicon or gore, the chorus is so unmemorable and half the song is nothing, combat and xerces are just... Idk. What's good about them? There's no good hook or anything esp memorable

Yeah this place is death is overlooked. Not as good a closer as what happened or rubicon but still solid. I think butcher is solid I'd just place it on the lower end of this album

I can take sextape, butcher, evil (yet it’s overdramatic), beauty school (chorus ruins the momentum a bit), royal
and leave the rest for different reasons. that tm scream is gone after SNW btw, they sound weak on rocket skates, cmnd, prince. also chino sounds better on koi than on DE, and better produced.
also diamond eyes t/t sucks putrid cock can’t change my mind there. lyrically sounds like hillary duff went with a stock line 6 meshuggah tone behind it.
