whoops will be 35 this season but still same difference lol. paying him like 50 million a year would've been really really stupid.

geno is at worst a perfectly competent quarterback who will allow them to actually evaluate the rest of their offense. He has nowhere near the wear and tear his age suggests. seems their plan is to build the rest of the team up before drafting their qb. this feels pretty similar to (the initial idea of) goff on the lions to me
a team with pete carroll at head coach (and tom brady pulling strings) is just never gonna tank. that's the reality of their situation. and idk the raiders are already like bottom three in wins over the last 20 years... the last thing that fanbase needs is another tank era.
|
| |
if you build the rest of the team first you will never be in position to draft a good qb. example the steelers.
|
| |
Yep!
|
| |
counterpoint: we literally just watched a second round qb win a super bowl... against mahomes who was drafted with a lower pick than the raiders have in this year's draft. last year the niners made the super bowl with mr. irrelevant. not to mention multi-time mvp lamar jackson was drafted at like 28, and not even the first player the ravens selected in that draft.
the nfl draft is not the nba draft. it is perfectly plausible to draft a super bowl caliber qb outside the top 5.

there is a next to zero hit rate on qbs outside of the first round. hurts, dak, russ are all outliers. and hurts is playing on a super team so was purdy lol. that isn't how you find a qb. lock, levis, kyle trask, hackenberg, kizer. just off the top of my head, it's almost always a waste of a valuable pick.
|
| |
I was just gonna say Jalen Hurts is definitely the outlier. I wouldn't even count Dak. He's average at best and has never won anything of importance. His numbers look good cause he throws 65 times a game. Just never saw it with him even early in his career.
|
| |
lmao and besides burrow and goff... up to this point dak has had a better career than every qb drafted in the top 5 since the luck and cam were drafted almost 15 years ago.
there's no one-size-fits-all method of finding a qb.
if we want to circle it all back to the steelers... their problem isn't that they win too much to draft a qb. their problem is they simply don't believe in drafting qbs at all unless its a generationally bad qb class.
|
| |
there is actually though. you take one in the first and it's about a 50 50 shot. after round one it's like 5%. free agency sometimes but it is rare.

If anything happened to Brock Bowers I would kill everyone and then myself
|
| |
lmao i'm not arguing drafting a qb in the first round isn't the way to go. i am arguing you don't need to tank into the top 5 in the process... which is seemingly what you guys are arguing the raiders and steelers should do.
|
| |
the raiders roster is still very bad so they should do that yes. you’re acting like i’m speaking chinese

you rang?
|

i feel like i kinda laid out what i think you would say but i'm very curious lol

There will be no quarterback worth drafting in the first round when it's time for the raiders to draft
|
| |
Cam Ward is the only one that really deserves to go in the first round tbh.
|
| |
the giants will still draft jaxson dart over shedeur
|
| |
Neither one of them is gonna be a good NFL quarterback so does it really matter??? Lol
|
| |
yes because john mara will still pay one of them $40 mil a year after 4 years of being a C-tier QB
and malik nabers will sign in pittsburgh and win a ring yw hawks
|
| |
you're trading up for cam ward which is a desperate move by schoen and daboll. no idea why they weren't fired.
