Nah, I’m starting to think otherwise Dungeon. The transitions are still not THAT smooth here. Better, but certainly not flawless (and a couple of rather weird moments).

Earlier Opeth was already my fave. Think I’m just doubling-down on that thought as the differences are less stark than I remember

BWP is more cohesive, from memory, but also has even less charm

a couple of weird moments [2]

Its a nitpick fs, but the rose stained window I looked at this album through started to fall apart for me when I started hyper-focusing on Mikael's weak little gurgle that lets down the first scream of The Moor

Serenity Painted Death has always been one of my least favorite tracks on here. It starts strong and has some cool riffs and moments, but it's a bit of a mess throughout.

I'm kind of shocked you gave this a 5 but hate Ghost Reveries so much lol

I mean Ghost Reveries is more proggy but they're of pretty similar quality imo and it's not like the style is all that different

honestly cannot understand how you can love one and hate the other unless you are trolling. the quality difference between the two are practically zero
