DE has the best production - even better than Terry Date. I get the hype for him considering White Pony but overall he is not more than solid imho. It's not like he's Kurt Ballou or Will Putney

Around the Fur, SNW and KNY are their best sounding records for me.
Tbh this is their only poorly produced album, sounds underdeveloped and flat.

New track has me so hyped for OHMS

Yeah I love it too, just the overall sound and atmosphere is trademark Deftones.
Makes me realise how much I've missed new music from these lads, one of my favourites

The new track is fucking fantastic. It’s so Hum and that’s an amazing thing. Miles better than anything on here xD

Apparently the new album cover is a drawing of Chi's eyes from a photo taken at one of their shows.
Saw the image comparison on reddit and it was pretty much identical.
Fitting tribute if that's the case and a nice touch.

Considering this is their longest gap of time between albums, it just shows how prolific these dudes have been over the course of their 25+ year career. To churn out albums at such a consistent pace and such consistent quality might really be their crowning achievement as a band.

I'm not sure I've liked how a Will Putney album has sounded, ever, will have to check though I just know I don't like how the last ETID sounded

KNY was excellent but people were mildly let down because it wasn't as good as Diamond Eyes, which is clearly their best album or at least tied with WP for that honor.

Still jam Leathers, Romantic Dreams, and Rosemary on the regular tho

I don't have a favorite Deftones record, but KNY and Diamond Eyes are pretty much equal to me.
On RYM it's actually the opposite, they dig KNY quite a bit more than DE

Well KNY is more RYMish if you know how they rate albums, so no suprises

I got into Deftones with WP first, then DE came out like a year later so I was immediately exposed to their best. Nothing else has come close, although SNW and KNY are most likely my 3rd/4th faves followed by AtF.

I was lukewarm on Ohms' s/t lead single. It sounded great but didn't stay with me melodically. Also a strange choice for a closer. I def need to hear it in context.

Strange choice for a closer indeed, but a great song for me overall. I'm pretty optimistic for Ohms, it sounds like they learned from their mistakes on Gore
