What was the purpose of that article other than to put the record down? He could have explained why so many people love it then go on to explain why he doesn't think the same way, but instead of opening up a discussion it reads like he closes it before it's even begun.

Yeah, usually I really like Paste but the whole concept of that column is really dumb and rather mean-spirited. Give the album a negative review when I comes out if you want but after that if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.

Nothing wrong with a critical re-evaluation. Many albums don't hold up after the initial buzz.

Crucial re-evaluation sure, but a whole column devoted to saying, “lots of people love these records, but we don’t”? That’s just clickbait. And I’m all for opposing opinions but that article is not terribly well-written or insightful. It’s just, “it’s boring and depressing and I don’t like it”.

I'd say Boxer (personal favourite) & Alligator are more immediate than this, although if you already checked their latest maybe it won't be an issue for you.
