Lol, this was my first taste of opeth so I loved it. Was pretty confused by how divisive it was. Glad people are giving this a revisit.

This album does something for me that their last two releases don't. Especially their most recent, that's probably my least favorite Opeth album. Felt a similar feeling from Katatonia's last one as well.

Blegh.

Sorceress and PC feel void of emotion mostly, even if I still like both albums.

This, on the other hand, has some of the best atmosphere(s) the band has ever created.

I think that's it actually. PC's songwriting is a bit better but lack the mad feels...

Nepenthe, Haxprocess, Folklore, Pyre & Famine all have the feels in some way or another, yeah.

The only emotional song on PC is Faith In Others (what a song though).

I love Faith in Others, my favorite off that album without a doubt.

I also love Face in the Snow, kinda wish I bought the special edition of Heritage instead heh, lovely song.

Ye, love that track.

It could be interesting to see where they go next after Sorceress, I hope they delve back into this sound in a different way tbh.

Sorceress just felt very safe and streamlined, almost like some songs were rushed just to meet a release date.

Ooh, haven't checked that, will do!

This is in my top 5 of Opeth, which is a very honourable crowd of course!

This always felt so dark and evil and twisted in a way they could not have achieved in their DM style imo. A special record

I don't listen to Opeth that often anymore but they're awesome for the face shredding riffs when I need them.

I usually feel myself when jamming Opeth too

Sometimes haha. Like the folky acoustic section of Twilight Is My Robe and Epilogue fill me with tons of warm emotions but Opeth mostly tears my face off xD

Edit: Bad timing for that post.
