I wasn't haha, she asked me what I study at uni and I told her I'm a music major. Then she asked what kind of music I like and she seemed cool so I told her I like some heavy stuff and then she's like "oh, my nephew is in a metal band, I think it's called Vektor or something".
Long story short I was expecting some basement band obviously but I told her I was familiar with this Vektor and asked if he'd released an album last year called Terminal Redux. Lo and behold she brings up the dude's fb account with pictures of him in an Outer Issolation shirt. What are the odds.

I have 3 friends with jazz guitar degrees, 10 years later, none of them have jobs even remotely close to what they studied. BUT.. they can all shred, so worth it?

Im more interested in production. Ive taught myself enough music theory to understand just about every kind of music but beyond surface level Ableton fuckarounds I cant mix master or produce electronic music for shit. And if i was to learn anything itd be that.

Again, YouTube my man. I taught myself everything about recording, mixing, mastering in ProTools/Reaper from YouTube. Have you taken a look? I'm sure there is a plethora of videos exclusively focused on electronic music based on my inadvertently stumbling upon them while looking for videos for actual instruments.

Even for electronic music production there are hundreds of resources online for free.

Ableton is perhaps the easiest to use because it will give you a description of what every single feature does in a handy little info box on the bottom-left.
