listening to gates of ishtar covering motley crue and i was like "hmm this sounds a bit like children of bodom's rhythm lol"

Kinda makes sense honestly. "Melodeth combined with classic hard rock/metal" is kinda the M.O. of a lot of CoB's music, lol

absolutely true for their earlier albums yeah
i still remember from back when i was more of a fan, on the stockholm knockout dvd alexi and roope play around with some "classic" 80s riffs before downfall kicks into gear properly, always found that moment really cool cuz it makes the influence so obvious
if anyone wants a youtube link

Reading the album's lyrics on lyric websites will never cease to be funny. Alexi never released the lyrics to certain songs on the album, so people just had to guess what he was saying. Here's an excerpt from the title track:
"...Never seen the fooled, beast inside of me
Well I'm an asshole, and really will always be
So why now, let it be
Is that so fucking hard, be dead, I'm free
Burn it hard, make a void that sucks to the suction drive
We need the open thing with my special little part of life"
Fucking what? lol

it’s finnish, dude we’re not supposed to understand it

every cob album will have 3 or 4 songs printed in the lyrics booklet and the rest left blank, had always assumed alexi just pulled that shit out of his arse in the studio and this didn't jive with label/publicity deadlines
