I can't just listen to a song or two on any Agalloch albums. I have to listen to the whole thing.

you are forgiven Scream

But seriously I thought this was an unquestioned 5 for the longest time (just look at my review) until this past summer when The Mantle smacked me across the face more than any other album in the history of forever.

Hawks hit the nail right on the head, but Crysis is right too. The Mantle and Pale Folklore are more cohesive, even though i can still listen to individual songs.

Mantle is the weakest of their LP's imo

The Mantle is still their weakest IMO. Though that's not saying much because it's still easily a 4.5.

relistening to the mantle now. its always been by far their weakest for me although still good. I never got why some people hold it as highly as they do though cause i always seem to lose focus near the end. I still think its great but im impatiently waiting for it to just click fully

I'd go with Ashes, Pale Folklore (that's hard though, those really are the same level of awesome) and then The Mantle in close third.

Last two songs on that album are two of my favorites by these guys.

too much filler on The Mantle. Not there's anything wrong with interludes and shorter songs, but the filler itself is just booooooring and even a few of the longer songs just get kinda meh. Maybe a 4, because its still fucking Agalloch, but it might not even be that high for me

My favorite Agalloch song is still Falling Snow followed closely by Dead Winter Days and As Embers Dress the Sky.

But, Falling Snow is amazing, and Dead Winter Days.

oh and Bloodbirds is also amazing. Im trying to get into the more applauded songs from The Mantle like The Hawthorne Passage and the 14 minute epic in the beginning, but I cant seem to enjoy them on the level that I enjoy my other favorite Agalloch songs
