I'm just gonna share one of my favourite slept on releases of 2023 FFO of Landmvrks, Beartooth, early While She Sleeps etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7SnlK6X4Sk

Posted an old review of their album from my own site on here just now as I just got reminded of them

Bands that deserve more attention than Manson. Already mentioned Aurore (go read my review of them) but for this year's stuff check Runs In Bone Marrow (Japanese hardcore/metalcore)

I'm not sure how underrated either of these artists are but I've been enjoying Earth Reaper by Wallowing (silly sci fi black metal + hardcore) and Written in Waters by Ved Buens Ende.

that’s a lot of fucking bands, let’s just stick with lesser known bands plz

Been jamming the Predatory Void (ex Oathbreaker) record. Some good modern black/post metal

"Even still, I think it's possible to enjoy that art or at least be challenged by it, but you cannot pretend like the context the art was forged from does not exist."

it depends entirely upon the extent to which their monstrous behavior shows through in their art. if there's no real connection, or some really abstract one that's reaching, then it's not really so much an issue, i think.

God I hope Oathbreaker reunite eventually. Their silence is so concerning

Keeping things on topic what did you guys/are you guys having for tea? I'm on a work trip so I had a mushroom, garlic and cheese bake at a nearby pub.

I'm going to also go ahead and say Everything Everything are a consistently underrated band, Mountainhead is one of the best albums of the year and as per usual it's going underappreciated.

Smash Hit Combo are stupid fun if you like French rap metal. Hardly reinventing the wheel but just fun to listen to. I really like how percussive French rapping is.

Haven’t heard it yet. Any standout tracks I should check before I have the time for a full listen?
