>the second half of sit & mourn is textbook atmo sludge, really surprised it got voted down
>The mixes are loud and dry enough for me to be inclined to say there’s some noisecore influence at least

mathcore has long become an overused tag, every 'chaotic' band gets tagged as mathcore now its so tiresome.

i dont see much of an argument for this band being deathcore other than the occasional blastbeat and death metal vox but it seems like a stretch

noisecore tag is ridiculous yeah, almost seems like people read the word 'noisecore' and go 'well, this is both core and noisy therefore it must be noisecore', without paying attention to how the tag has actually been applied in the past or is used now (metalcore suffers from a similar tendency)

really, i dont see why anyone wouldnt just stop at Metalcore with heavy beatdown influences/dna/backbone

The band promotes violence through beatdowns and their pits, thus power violence true. Noisecore makes sense too.

What about slam? Like when you get your face slammed into the ground by the sheer bRuTaliTY

idk why you guys even put yourself through reading that nonsense

in this particular instance its just funny watching rym needlessly jump through hoops trying to justify why they like something. they can't simply like a regular metalcore album... its gotta be """elevated""" in some way

they do that with every popular album with a high average honestly its so embarrassing

That's the best part about metal and hardcore. You don't need to be super original as long as the tunes are fun and well thought out. Of course this will be subjective from person to person but I would rather music be fun than desperately attempting to be "different"

this isnt surprising considering that metalcore is considered a dirty word by a lot of people.

I remember seeing a lot of posts on metal/hardcore subreddits over the years featuring older metalcore bands (converge, botch etc) where people would go to great lengths to say no, these bands are not metalcore, they cant be, metalcore is shit like asking alexandria, and also they cant be metalcore cos this song sounds like metal and metalcore is metallic HARDCORE, a type of punk music, and so on and on and on and on and on

The Coachella effect. It became cool to like them when they played there and everyone made a huge deal about it. So a lot of people who'd never heard of them started listening to be in the know and ended up liking their particular brand.

to add to that^^^ i think this band's sound is exactly "what people who don't listen to metal think all metal sounds like"... and on top of that its very easy to understand the lyrics through all the screaming
