Memorability has been the big hurdle for me on this. It all sounds neat n everything, but god forbid I try to recall a song based on a snippet.

It depends on the snippet. Every song has a couple of stretches that are pretty recognizable, but there's definitely parts that sound really similar.

individual song memorability is less of a factor for me with extreme metal usually, I like album experiences and vibes more.

Agreed, I think some sonic crossover from track to track is usually a good thing, helps the flow and atmosphere.

I generally agree with both of those points - just wish I could describe why "A Sorrow-Filled Moon" is good or bad if you get my meaning.

Leaning toward a 4 regardless bc the compositions are just insane.

It's a fair point, you'd have to get hyper specific.

It's definitely a problem for me. Stuff of this ilk usually fails to capture my imagination in so far as 'vibes' or atmosphere go. Memorability (or perhaps novelty value if it gets 'weird') is the only thing that's likely to save this, unfortunately. Probably because it sounds so damn clean and clinical, a necessity to let the technicality breathe (to an extent of course and by no means the worst example). I just find it hard to 'vibe'

As I've already said this is competently pieced together and clearly skilfully executed, but I need more

Honestly, I really tried to like this but really the only great track for me here is still the first single. Everything else is kinda mediocre :/

Shame cause I actually like their other stuff a good amount

Yes, that's why sometimes playlists don't make a lot of sense for us. Not always of course!

Conveniently absolving metal of the need to be memorable seems very on brand for some of those who agree with that oddity of a statement. It’s no more ‘vibes orientated’ than other music, c’mon now

Thought this was plenty memorable especially compared to any dime-a-dozen prog death. Also riff [2]

Agreed hard. Same could be said for many genres imo
