Comparing GnR to A7X is an insult to A7X

I legitimately haven't listened to anything this band has put out since Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen of which I loved both. Even had Warmness on the Soul as my wedding dance. Whatever sound direction they took after that I didn't warm to and haven't listened since.
I've just given this a full listen. It was definitely up and down, good on them for trying something completely different that they probably know will cop some heat for. At times I found myself wanting to turn it off but got through to the end. I do enjoy all of the piano sections, particularly the piano track near the end. Sometimes his voice just was a bit much, at times it suited. I felt like they tapped into some punk rock roots at times which was also welcome.
Overall, a strange but brave release. Will I listen to it again? Probably.

Agreed Koris. It should be A7X > Metallica by a longshot

Ehhhhh, that might be pushing it. I do think A7X has the better overall discog, but those 80s Metallica albums beat most of their output imo

Only Ride The Lightning can beat half of A7X discog but it can't overcome the whole discog by itself. Sadly no other classic Metallica albums exist...it is fine tho...Metallica is mostly garage rock not metal.

Why do they have to have stupid names though.
Like how can a grown man look themselves in the mirror and call themselves Zacky Vengeance?

Hell, fucking Geezer Butler put out 3 solo albums in the 90s and 2000s that were more metal than Metallica in those two decades. Got shown up by a metal god from decades before.

I want to know how they can watch themselves in the City of Evil music videos and not cringe. 🤣

Just looking at the list of Terry Date credits makes me feel yucky.
Catch Without Arms by dredg was a weird standout on there though.

I don't think this will overall top The Stage or Nightmare (unless Easier and Beautiful Morning grow on me) but god, it's amazing how many points I have to give this just based on how fucking wild it is.

it's also wild that this really is the band I thought would be completely done after HTTK

Hold your damn horses. Bashing 'tallica, GnR and Pantera is pretty damn weird way to appreciate this record. Like this band wasn't ass for half a decade(whole if you don't care about the stage).
For me those three bands were gateway to heavy music and Ax7 to really heavy stuff. Why would one need to stan only one band at time. I'm here getting offended for every gateway band even thou I found stuff I like more long time ago lol.
