I've settled on this. It's mostly just okay with some fun bits here and there. Parabiosis is catchy enough that I might chuck it on every so often

Enjoying this more with each listen. The riffs are working more like them laying groundwork within the dynamics so all the synths and other mood pieces can take over.

This dudes cleans have never been strong enough to me to take center stage like this but they’re doing their thing. Their songwriting abilities speak for themselves

sometimes when i see reception like this i'm convinced i just eat up any good post-metal that comes my way and then i find myself bored as shit with like Neurosis' Honor Found in Decay...this is so much better than that.

I have bias for this band as mentioned. I do understand not liking it though. I feel like its sort of the ocean rushed to a degree. May drop to a 4 but i love parabiosis

honestly some of these songs are just HITTING for me. Unconformities is sick, wish there was more like it.

You're going to bat for one of the weakest Neurosis albums? they have absolute classics prior in their career. Honor Found In Decay's production is poopoo and the writing is just decent, way worse than say, The Eye of Every Storm or Through Silver in Blood.

"you should get the "Unconformities" edition vinyl"

that exists? putting that on my list for when I can.

don't actually. there were several pages in this thread about how that particular vinyl bizarrely does not include the song "Unconformities".

ngl I like a lot of post metal but do not get on with Neurosis at all.

They are an acquired taste it seems. Don’t know what happened with me way back when tbh. No way was I at that level 15 years ago (was probably the acid tbh). I can’t have heard any other post-metal outside of them and Isis (and weirdly it was Neurosis that hit first, waaaaaaay earlier).
