fwiw I kinda half agree here, but I think it's much fairer to criticise this for stretching ideas out beyond their natural mileage in the performance dept than for being fundamentally lazy in the writing dept. the bones of these tracks are all solid enough

a japanese teacher once played the lazy song during a "do your writing shit" bit of a class. i was strolling around nudging students in the right direction and, having not heard the song before and assuming that no-one else in the room was even vaguely following it, i chortled on instinct on the "meet a really nice girl, have some really nice sex" line bc it was just the dumbest, last thing i expected to hear in that classroom. the smartest girl in the class also chortled on instinct at exactly the same instant and i realised that she was a genius and that bruno mars should not be played in boring lessons for any reason ever
