This is easily better than their previous incarnation(s?) way back when, not really sure what they’ve done since apart from the odd isolated song, but I actually thought this one was half-decent. I’m in shock.

Enjoying the opening couplet and the ‘In The Car Outside’ / ‘In Another Life’ combo the most thus far.

I've listened to the first few songs off this album so many times that it's easy to overlook how damn good the second half of this is. Starting with In the Car Outside, the back half continues with In Another Life, Desperate Things, Pressure Machine, and The Getting By. They're all superb, and In Another Life / The Getting By are arguably 5/5 tracks. Tracks 7-11 are easily better than 1-6.

Of course this album's getting paid dust in all the publication end-of-year lists - the Killers just aren't cool enough, and arguably never have been.

There's no way the new War On Drugs record is that much more deserving of praise than Pressure Machine

I can't listen to the t/t anymore without having that "my man did not have to go that hard with the falsetto" quote run through my head. I just chuckle.

So thanks, whoever that was.

I swear, some of the most random Sputnik quotes are forever ingrained in my brain...
