these guys suck. They're boring mainstream radio rock. They might as well BE Creed, because nothing has changed. Oh, look! That guy's a good soloist! It's a shame he can't write interesting, original, or GOOD music. And that vocalist? Good god, give it up with that deep voiced Nickelback/Creed crap. It's so generic, boring, and poorly done it makes me want to vomit.

Myles has a very wide range to his vocals, which are similar to (dare I say) Chris Cornell. This is better than mainstream rock. This is creative and original and GOOD. Tremonti can't really change what it is he is (if you get that), and that is why at least the music is similar but more complex. I mean when you have all of Creed minus the vox, plus the new vox and solos, you have a kick ass band. Why does everyone have to hate on AB? They are the best underrated mainstream rock bands....EVER!!!

But see, you can't say its creed, some songs can be creed-ish. But most of this album are songs that Creed should NEVER do. Does Metalingus or One day remains sound like anything Creed would do? I don't think so.

Don't comment on the album unless you have hear at least the first 5 songs.

the song that WWE's Edge uses to enter the ring is FANTASTIC! is that the single? («you think you know me?»)

Edge's theme song is "Metalingus." It isn't a single, but it should be IMO. I agree with Dek except for the fact that I think you should listen to the whole album before you comment on it because if you don't know the variety of it, you can dismiss it and overlook its greatness because all you've heard are the singles and nothing more.

Is it so bad it makes you cry (I would assume that's your point because you rated it .5), or is it so great it made you cry?

I have to say..to compare this album to anything by nickelback is just well...pathetic...nickelback is the posterchild for crappy music..but i wont get into that.... in no way does Myles sound anything like that crappy whats his face singer of nickelback....

i have to say when i first heard their solo i wasnt too impressed but i figured i would get the album anyways because my friend told me that most of the songs werent like the single at all...

right away i was impressed with the song Find the Real...a good solid rock song with a rockin guitar part the whole way through...and Myles' singing just made it that much better...sure it may not be a perfect album but i give them a solid 4/5 definetly a great album.

i really liked the song In loving Memory it really captured the feelings you feel when losing someone close to you and although it might not have rocked as hard as some of the other songs i would still give it a 4/5

and i have to agree Metalingus is probably my favorite song on the record it just rocks!

and thats my 2 cents

well i will give you some credit for saying you like it. and that you thought metaligus is the best song, which it is, but i think open your eyes is awesome, and if it does sound like creed, good, because millions of people love creed, you godd*mn idiot.and another thing, you can easily listen to in loving memory and like it, you wanna be tough guy!

My band is actually opening up for Alter Bridge soon, so I'll have to get back to you about the album. I dont own it yet, so I can't say for sure yet...will continue it later. "Find the Real" is a bad ass song as is Open Your Eyes...
I'll have to get back to you about it.
Also, haha, we thought about playing a Creed song for soundcheck, think its a good idea?

a very detailed review, i agree with most points, yes they do sound like creed at points, but they take mostly the good elements of creed, the melody and the blues guitar riffs that were fantastic in songs like one last breath and with arms wide open. The only thing i dont agree with about this review, is the attitude that a song has to have an unbelieveable solo and amazing drumming for it to be good, i think the album has a good mixture of melody, ass kicking solos and some good old fashioned rock and roll, with the odd balladic song included just for good measure. i agree open your eyes is probably the worst track on the album, but it is still decent, unless its been overplayed in the US, i certainly know it hasnt in the UK. personally i liked creed, but i prefer alter bridge, not only do they demonstrate a higher level of musical skill, but the singing is far more powerful and with a wider range, also, Scott Stapp sang thru his nose rather from the diaphragm, something i feel Myles isn't guilty of.

The only thing i can fault alter bridge is the ego, Mark certainly has an overinflated ego, u can see that from just watching any of the videos or live performances, but what the hell, thats all part of rock and roll! he's a kick ass guitar player, much better than i will ever be, and i think i'd have as overinflated an ego if i could play like that.

Overall a good detailed review, nice job!

None of the U.S. singles ("Open Your Eyes", "Find The Real", or "Broken Wings") got much air play from and pop stations. I mean, they got some decent air play on the now defunct mainstream rock station, but not much on pop stations.....which sucks because they were better than Creed, and "Open Your Eyes" was just as poppy as "Higher" or "One Last Breath." Regardless of its greatness in comparison to the rest of the album, you can't deny its poppiness.

It seems to me that there is a lot of controversy going on over whether this sucks or not. That is completely subjective. Fans should look at it from an unbiased point of view while non fans should do the research and actually listen to the whole album before passing judgment by judging an album solely upon the radio releases. Open your eyes was dangerously close to My Sacrifice, which would explain the “its another Creed” write. If you listen to the rest of the album, however, one will quickly realize that there has been a change in direction with the sound of the band. It wasn’t too long ago that most of us were groaning when “Arms wide open” came on, but most of the hard rock community was turning it up when “What if” and “Bullets” came on. Listen to everything, that’s all I’m saying.

I have also been reading a lot of comments about how the solo doesn’t fit and that Mark Tremonti is full of himself. Solos are subjective. Some shred and others believe that one note has the power of 100 notes if its written well. Mark Tremonti has always paid close attention to making sure that there was strong hook and melody around his writing. That’s why his songs always get stuck our head. True, he did shred his ass off and he is getting fast enough to jam with John Petrucci, but his goal as a solo player is bring shredding back. He even recently discussed in Total guitar Magazine how it’s a challenge to shred in a song and have it make sense. He’s slowly bringing it back. You also have to take into the context that he was playing in an open D tuning (DADADD). Shredding fast is all you really can do in a situation like that. He is also a very humble and hard working guitar player. If you read any interview that he has had in any guitar magazine in the past 4 years, you would immediately realize this. He openly admits his faults and weaknesses as a guitar player and how he is trying to grow and improve. He even personally does the instructional videos for guitar world and guitar one when he was interviewed. He even recorded an instrumental track for Total Guitar just because they asked. No money, no special deal, he did it for fun and helped Total guitar Tab it out so the fans could learn to play it.

Now, does that sound like someone who is full of themselves?

Keep and open mind and do your research kiddies.
