That’s a good thing in some ways, the squeaky clean production of their later efforts certainly doesn’t enhance my enjoyments of those albums, even if the songs aren’t really there anyway. Can you imagine Stockholm Syndrome any other way? And it’s only a touch muddy within their discography, all relative.

muse were one of my first favourite bands, a lot of their material annoys me now, but absolution by and large i can listen to easy

Haha bruh we both know the squeaky clean sound of the later albums is faaaar from being the worst thing about the later albums

But yeah, since growing up with Absolution and it essentially changing my life, I have no real beef with how it sounds.

bloc if I was rating albums by importance to me personally then yeah Absolution is 6/5, along with The Holy Bible & Ok Computer. Probably tons since then but I always group them together as it was of an era (for me, not in music generally).

Best Muse to me. Just switch Feeling Good (good cover though) with Futurism and you have an almost perfect album

Yeah I could make a pretty small sized list of my era albums too. I remember all of them vividly, but tbh there aren't many.

Showbiz is madly underrated though, for real

Agreed. Showbiz has some forgettable songs but a lot of great stuff and there is a lot of passion that makes up for that.

I think the clean production benefits this and Black Holes better than Absolution. If anything, the vinyl does help clear up the sound but I think it was a deliberate decision

Black Holes was brickwalled to hell though I think

Black Holes mixing is bad, agreed. Plus Starlight sounds like Keane. Assassin was cool though. Butterflies is Muse’s best song.
