"also the Ooh La La hook is definitely irritating, for sure, but for some reason it ends up working and feels like one of the most quintessentially rtj moments of the album"
I can kinda agree with that. It has the character/attitude you'd expect from them. I just don't think it sounds good (which we seem to agree on).
I will say that the "El-P sound" really shines through on the latter half, which I enjoy. The Sci-Fi vibes in some of the songs are pretty cool.

"Alhamdulillah"
lol. I won't have to go back to that region ever again, inshallah.

I said earlier the "Ooh La La" hook is a minor inconvenience to an otherwise excellent song. Small part, fellas, MOVE ON

hard to call it a small part when it's so grating and repeated so often

I don't normally listen to hip hop that often, but even I have to admit this album is fantastic!

pulling from last page but
"i just find a lot of his references serve literally no purpose whatsoever other than to plug shit from the lowest common denominators of our cultural zeitgeist... off the top of my head i would include his kurt vonnegut and ayn rand references as well as his ODB reference"
the Vonnegut and Rand line is from El-P not Killer Mike and it's a great line

rtj's major demograph has never exactly been heads... that's not a knock on anyone but really, i think that's fairly observable

woops ur right my b. still hate that line lol.
|

idk it's a 20 second chorus, but I don't mind it

yeah i love that line, especially as a vonnegut fan and someone who goes out of their way to mention that ayn rand died on social security.
|
| |
i don't like vonnegut so there's my bias
