Are the lazy lyrics deliberate to make it fit the pop mould or is this the best she can come up with? Not sure how this album would work if they took things slightly more seriously. Enjoying it quite a bit as it is.

most people suck at lyrics. it's pretty common. comparatively, i would say poppy is a superior lyricist

my two favorite songs on this album are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. haven't heard anything quite like "concrete," though there are comparisons (babymetal et al.?) to be made, whereas "nothing I need" could be on a lot of diff alt-r&b albums. two great songs imho tho, although "concrete" it's mostly the sugar rush of the chorus

I fucking hate when pop artists go off rhythm in some vain attempt to be "artsy" or "different" it's aggravating to listen to.

from what i remember, "concrete" is probs the song most easily interchangeable with the dirtysugar cuts on whichever alt-idol albums from the past few years (babymetal not necessarily the best example)

It's like she listened to Babymetal once and was like "I can do that" and then proceeded to forget to do the things that made Babymetal and other Kawaii-Metal acts so good.

A consistent rhythm.

Great to see. Fresh artists exposing a new audience to screaming and other metal elements is the only thing that might save metal from withering into a boring Black metal circle jerk.

Word. I feel like some people gotta expand their idea on what "metal" can be, I'm happy someone as popular as Poppy can potentially introduce people to music they might not usually seek out.
