Baard is probably my favourite young drummer. Creative beast

Man, hearing them perform this live is so cool too. Record has been really important to Einar, he has really changed on stage, for the better. Love to see them enjoying themselves

This record was basically about how struggles with depression. You can really hear it in some songs like Distant Bells

yeah, you hear it in all songs tbh. It has been obvious in a lot more of their music, but now he's finally said it for what it is I think (atleast for himself), instead of making it cool and metal and shit

My appreciation for this is growing, but I still miss metal Leprous.

Honestly I think the mellowness would work if the songs were a bit more adventurous. They don't need Bilateral level lunacy, but most of the tracks suffer from the same tedious slow build up formula that the band started from Coal

I thought that would really be an issue after hearing the singles but I didn't feel that way when hearing the album in full

Yea, same. I was worried by these singles, but the album works so well for some reason. Flows perfectly and is awesome from start to finish

I can easily get missing metal times. Hell, I sometimes miss it too. This is great in it's own right (hence 4.5) but i'd still prefer congregation metal ratio. Anyway it's a huge grower for the most part including Distant Bells which at the same time is amazing already after first listen. 2nd best song of the year right after TYS's Anchor

Bilateral is their best, agreed

Tbh, I would love a combination of The Congregation/Coal and this. The Congregation/Coal was very samey, and this felt way more diverse. The same can be said about Bilateral. Loved the brooding tone of TC and C but they were very samey and a bit too exhausting to hear as a full record. Very excited to see what they will do next, I don't see them get any poppier than this tbh

"I don't see them get any poppier than this tbh"
Einar: "Challenge accepted"

That's perfectly possible tbh, never say never with musicians who grow tired of their genre. Everything could happen, except for Einar doing cloud rap. That would never happen. Or would it?!

Btw, guys, there's a Leprous-influenced band called Maraton. Check them out if you haven't, they are a mix of Leprous and Muse, and their songs are quite some bangers.

Seen the singer of Maraton live with 22, also another worthy modern prog pop referral
Last (and first) Maraton is real good prog pop
