"Algoritmens sällskap tröstar

Och dottern ringer sällan nu

Hur beskriver man ett liv utan mål?

Maskinens toner överröstas

När döden ger sin intervju

Vi tillber flödet i en metropol."

Nej men fan, Mikael. Nu får det sluta.

Think so too Flug, this feels like it needs time to fully open up.

Really couldn't get into this the first few times listening, but going through the Swedish version and for some reason it just sounds better. Will most likely bump up the rating a full point.

my crazy conspiracy theory is that this album isn't actually better but people that are bored of their king crimson covers have stopped listening to them

Could be true wwf, although I know for sure that this is better than PC and Sorceress.

I’m interested in hearing the Swedish version now, the lyrics don’t bother me much (in any sort of negative way), but I want to compare the two. Heard it 4 times through and will hold off rating until I’ve given the original version a cursory spin.

Universal Truth is still my fave, best Opeth song since Haxprocess. Garroted is very good, I like Continuum. Heart in Hand is still decent. A couple of the others might be growing on me. Lovelorn Crime is nice enough but still not sold on the hype yet, same with Next of Kin. Charlatan is the black sheep.

The fact this has my attention and isn’t a chore to sit through is already a massive improvement over the last 2.

Super happy you feel this way about it too Demon, last sentence sums it up nicely.

Are we completely sure it's better than PC? I mean, it may be boring but it is a nice listen. This is a bit stressful.

I like it better than PC no doubt, but I guess I could see people love them equally (or even prefer PC) if they aren't into that whacky, stop start nature that I personally love here. PC was calmer, more straightforward.

PC and Sorceress were pretty much basic-bitch Opeth albums. There are more standout moments here than on those previous two combined. Also, rating bumped.

And Charlatan is still the worst song on the album. Ew.

Agreed Pika, they're bland. Even though Eternal Rains and River are perfect tracks, love them dearly.

Good rating bump ♥

Demon’s opinion is the opposite of mine ;(

It doesn’t really have my attention because it is a chore to get through

Agree on Charlatan though
