I'm digging this more and more after each listen, I feel like it's the follow up to Volume 3.

Never really cared for slipknot until I saw them live maybe 5 yrs ago. This is the first album I've bought from them. Not disappointed

Not Long for This World is definitely becoming front runner for my favorite here. Loving Birth of the Cruel, Solway Firth, Nero Forte and A Liar’s Funeral also.

My Pain has definitely become one of my favorites. They nailed it. Really helps the pacing of the album too.

Vol. 3 vox are good.

call me crazy, but does anyone else get the feeling that Taylor's trying to imitate Robb Flynn (of Machine Head)'s vocal style a bit? There's definitely a shift away from his former style and into something that resembles Flynn's.
Also, Critical Darling's main riff is a pure rip-off of Megadeth's Take no Prisoners' verse riff lmfao :D
really liked the album, though. 3.5 to 4 for me. First half rocks hard, as well as final 2 songs. Everything inbetween is kinda meh.

I think one of the main reasons this sounds so fresh is because it doesn't sound like Stone Sour, the last two records started going down that alt. rock route

A Liar's Funeral f.e. starts absolutely Stone Sour...turns out to be a very good song. Don't lie to yourself. This has loads of bangers, but some of those are dragged down by that kind of unimaginative melo chorus/ sections (they do successfully try to run from that on Nero Forte and Orphan - whatta banger m/m/).
Been re-binging their discog and it has been surprisingly fun...I was just upset they went radiometal backthen, but they re a cool band. Not ready to 4 this cause of that. But yeah it can be the best one since vol.3
And the reason this sounds fresh is because on some other sections they are back on some noise/ electronic experimentation, not because of the bangers themselves.

I just wanted to say that I haven't really cared about any of Slipknot's output since "Iowa" and well...it's weird being this 33yr old snobby music hipster and adoring the album. It's huge, diverse and atmospheric, but also way different than I expected.
I've given it a good 6 or 7 full listens by now and I'm still picking up on little sonic details, it's just really wild to me how relevant they have once again become and I'm honestly pretty happy to see them make something truly artistic. It really reminds me of a horror film soundtrack and I'm a sucker for "big sounding" albums, especially ones that are concept driven, it's just intriguing overall. Just a really solid listen that bangs and brings emotions to the forefront like they haven't in a long time.
I'm surprised and impressed.
