that's the spirit ;D
I'm downloading 'Rhodonite', that's the only standalone song for me really.
There's too much 'spoken work building to scream over slow building backing' on this album overall, it's effective on the first song proper (Fulton I) but gets less effective each time it's deployed (which is A LOT)
'Rhodonite' is the song least like that...and the best. This is nearly v good but I guess I don't like that song construction too much, but it might just be a genre thing. An emo thing.

it's an atmospheric rock record so I don't mind that the runtime runs long. could have been an EP since the ideas are limited

'the ideas are limited'
yes, this is the first 2019 edition of 'At least 7 near-identical songs here - The Album'

doof isn't wrong, variety is not why this album is good. comes down to execution for me.
you'd probably like "Woman (in mirror)" and "Objects in Space" off their last album

I think Anxiety Panorama was my first favourite song from this, now it's the only one I don't love.

"Rhodonite and Grief" and "View from Our Bedroom Window" are the two early highlights methinks

Fantano gave the new Billie Eyelash album a higher score than this. Imagine having that mentality

"Rhodonite and Grief" and "Fulton Street I" are my easy favorites so Doof is doing something right. Though I do think this has significantly more variety than any of their earlier releases

this album is fucking great and keeps getting better but I spun Rooms today for the first time in a while and wow, what a masterpiece. highly underrated. I was even really feeling Scenes From Highways and Objects In Space, 2 songs I tend to say are on the lower end of the La Dispute songs.
Also this album definitely feels heavier but Rooms had plenty of heavy. The Child We Lost and 35 have parts that fully showcase their intensity while songs like the first 2 are just straight jams.
i love this band so god damn much.

"could have been an EP since the ideas are limited"
they really did use most of their musical ideas on the debut, it's hard to expand upon that. but that's not to say the tricks here are ineffective, it's highly enjoyable throughout

Scenes from Highways is one of my favourites on Rooms. Love the storytelling on that song.

Complaining that someone gave an album a higher rating as a other (unrelated even! ) album. Imagine having that mentality

I also saw that yesterday and had the same thought lmao. But then again, he'll 8/10 anything with a PHAT beat meanwhile emo bands only get good scores if they're perfect in every imaginable way

Hey thanks ButtBoy. Glad someone shared the same sentiment as me. I just found it hilarious. He really does not like much emo.
